733,770. Launching aircraft. FAIREY AVIATION CO., Ltd. April 25, 1947 [June 27, 1946], No. 19260/46. Class 4. An aircraft f, more particularly one of the twinengined jet-propelled type, is supported for launching from a ship e by an L-shaped structure mounted so as to depend at the side of the ship in an almost vertical attitude, the lower limb b of the structure supporting the aircraft standing on its tail and the upstanding limb c having rails or like guides for the wheels of a launching carriage g on which rests the underside of the aircraft. In the form shown the support has an upper limb a by means of which the structure is secured to the deck d. The take-off may be rocket assisted. A number of launching structures may be arranged along the edges of the deck, enabling a number of aircraft to be launched simultaneously.
