Abstract

732,877. Harvesting-machines. INTERNATIONAL HARVESTER CO. June 30, 1963 [July 4, 1952], No. 18112/53. Class 6 (3). The reel 1 of a combine-harvester is mounted on a shaft 3 carried in a bearing 5 slidable along a vertical column 2 at one end of the reel-shaft, the other end being unsupported, and the column forms part of an articulated linkage 2, 16, 17 permitting forward and rearward adjustment of the reel, the drive thereto being unaffected by the adjustment. The column is pivoted at its base to the main frame and the link 17 is similarly pivoted, being pivoted at its upper end to a link 16 which is pivoted to the bearing 5 coaxially with the shaft 3. The system is adjusted by a worm and quadrant 20, 19 operable by a handle 22, the drive to the reel being through pulleys 9, 12, 13 coaxial with the pivots of the links 16, 17. The bearing 5 is supported by a spring 7 connected to the upper part of the column.
