Abstract

732,667. Cartons. SHELLMAR PRODUCTS CORPORATION. Jan. 31, 1952, No. 2601/52. Class 18. A moulded egg carton has a hinged non-cellular lid and a lid-bracing flange 14 hinged to the body opposite the lid, the hinge between at least the lid and body being a strip of material of varying width. The lid rear wall and flange 14, and optionally the lid front wall, are shaped to provide areas abutting surfaces 23 on the body. The hinges are each formed by two creases and the body flange and lid margins adjacent the creases, slope towards the plane of meeting of the body and lid to compensate for the hinge height. The hinge creases are curved, as shown at 37, 38, between the cells to prevent the hinges bulging. The tops 22 of the separator posts may have apertures (not shown) for ventilation and additional cushioning. The egg cells consist of polygonal portions 18 merging into conical portions 20 and form the subject-matter of the divided Specification 732,770.
