Abstract

619,920. Packeting; boxes. LANDOLT, E. Dec. 17, 1946, No. 37157. Addition to 603,306. [Classes 18 and 94 (i)] In apparatus for folding a cardboard or like blank into box form according to the parent Specification, comprising a rigid plate 1 having upstanding side walls 2 for elevating side forming panels of the blank when the latter is pressed into the plate, means is provided for supporting the plate from beneath outwardly projecting parts of the side walls. In the example, a rim 12 on the plate 1 is supported by a wooden frame 9 fitting snugly within a drawer 10 of a table or counter 11, the upper surface of the frame 9 being arranged at a lower level than the top edge 13 of the recess in the table. The bottom of the drawer is apertured at 15 to provide access to a hole 6 in the plate 1 and the side walls of the frame 9 are recessed at portions corresponding with cut-away portions 5 in the plate. The plate 1 may be of sheet metal or wood, or moulded from plastic material and may have legs 8 at its corners and reinforcing webs 7 for the side walls. In a modification, the frame 9 can be arranged for direct or hinged attachment to the side or surface of a counter and, in an alternative arrangement, the frame 9 may be integral with the plate 1, e.g. moulded in one piece. The blank, Fig. 4, has web portions 19 between adjacent side-walls forming panels 17, each web having a medial scoring line 20 and a V-shaped perforation 21, 22 which assists in the folding operation.
