Abstract

732,664. Hooks. HARLEY, F. B. Jan. 19, 1953 [Jan. 18, 1952]. No. 1508/52. Class 89(2). [A so in Group XXII] A spring hook is formed from a stamped sheet metal blank and has the rear part of the shank 12 twisted into a plane perpendicular to that of the hook 11 to lie flat against the spring 18 that is secured to it by rivets 17. To increase the durability of the spring the twisting is effected in a jig, described in Group XXII, so that no part of the twisted surface stands proud of the plane surface to which the spring is riveted. For attaching the hook to a strap, &c. the shank 12 is connected by a single bolt to a pair of parallel plates which are slotted to accommodate the strap. The slots have recesses in the middle to receive an eyelet, which is used if the strap is replaced by a wire, &c. Alternatively the shank 12 may be slotted, &c. for the attachment or the connecting plate may be formed to provide a swivel.
