Abstract

732,088. Spring catches; gravity catches. JONES, A. E. July 21, 1954 [July 21, 1953], No. 21238/53. Class 44. [Also in Group XXXII] A sledge or wheeled truck, (see Group XXXII,) for receiving bales of hay from a baling machine, comprises tubular side frames and uprights c and d, and arms i pivoted to the side frames and secured to bale supports j, which supports extend substantially the full length of the sledge and are counterbalanced by bars k or spring biased to return to a horizontal position, as shown in Fig. 2. In operation the sledge is towed by the baling machine and receives the bales discharged therefrom which move towards the rear on the supports j until the sledge is full. The rearmost bale then displaces a trip arm n which by moving rods p, rand t releases pivoted catch members m to allow the arms i and support j to drop and release the bales in a group onto the field.
