Abstract

731,921. Air guns. WALTHER, F. June 26, 1951 [June 27, 1950], No. 15165/51. Class 119. The trigger mechanism of an air gun comprises a pivoted sear 1 having a nose 4, for engaging a nose 5 of the rod 6 of the air piston, and a nose 10 for engaging a sear lever 2, the sear pivot 7 being located to lie wholly or partly within a recess 6a in the rod 6 when the latter is cocked. The arrangement is such that the effective radius of the nose 10 about the sear pivot 7 is more than twice the effective radius of the nose 4 about the sear pivot. The sear shown is under the action of a spring 8 and has a nose 9 which is engaged by the rear end of the rod 6 to re-cock the sear. The sear lever 2 is of U-section, is under the control of a spring 18, and is slotted for the passage of the sear and of the trigger 3. By the arrangement above described the spring 18 is able to return the sear lever fully to the sear engaging position if the trigger is released after a partial pull. The mechanism is housed in a housing 20 which can be inserted from the rear into the compressed air cylinder.
