A trigger mechanism for a semi-automatic weapon, e.g. a compressed gas weapon, comprises a trigger 5 pivoted about a bolt 6 mounted in the body of the weapon and having rigidly connected at its upper end a double armed lever 7 spring loaded for anti-clockwise movement. A trigger lever 13 and a retaining lever 16 are both pivoted about a second bolt 15 and each has a catch 24, 25 for co-operation with an extension 14 of a slidably mounted, spring loaded plunger 18. One arm of the retaining lever 16 is spring biased against an arm of the double armed lever 7. On actuation of the trigger the plunger, held by the trigger lever catch 24 through the mechanical connection between the double-armed lever and the trigger lever, is released to release compressed gas for firing a projectile, the gas pressure returning the plunger to the left where it is engaged by the retaining lever catch 25 which is urged upwardly by the spring biasing. On return of the trigger the catch 25 is urged away from the plunger and the trigger lever catch 24 is urged into the path of the plunger extension by its mechanical connection to the double-armed trigger lever 7. The retaining lever catch is further removed from the second bolt than the trigger lever catch and thus the plunger moves forwardly before its extension engages the trigger lever catch.
