731,703. Posts; foundations. BRITISH INSULATED CALLENDER'S CONSTRUCTION CO., Ltd. Oct. 14, 1953 [Oct. 15, 1952], No. 25874/52. Classes 20 (1) and 20 (2). A concrete foundation for a post 21 or tower is made by placing around the foot of the post, at the bottom of a hole 20 in the ground, a mould 26 in the form of a bag made of thin, flexible, non-metallic material, e.g. resin-bonded paper, having a base of larger dimensions than a mouth in the top of the mould, and pouring wet concrete through the mouth to embed the foot of the post. The mouth is placed nearer to one corner of the mould than to the other three corners to allow for the slope of the pole, the base and mouth being square. A frame 27 holds the mouth open to receive the concrete which may be poured down a shoot, the frame 27 being supported on an adjustable framework which stands outside the mould during pouring. The frame 27 and framework are subsequently removed. A conventional metal mould allows a concrete sheath 42 to be formed round the post 21 to about ground level. The hole 20 is finally filled in with earth, the mould 26 being left in position. In modifications, the mouth may be circular, the frame being correspondingly shaped, and may be placed centrally of the mould.
