An ornamental stretchable link band particularly for wrist watches comprises two alternating series of outer and inner oblong link elements each, constituted from a hollow open-topped oblong box 10 with a separate cover 12, Fig. 7, on which ornaments 11 are mounted, the outer links each consisting of two link elements 2, Fig. 2, spaced apart a distance equivalent to the width of an inner link unit 5 consisting of one or more link elements 5a, the elements 2 being rigidly interconnected at each end by a cross-bar 3, the inner link unit 5 having in each of its side walls a pair of spaced aligned guide slots 6, Fig. 1, extending from opposite ends of the unit and corresponding openings 8 in the inner walls of the unit through which slots and openings the cross-bars 3 extend so that cross bars of adjacent links are urged towards one another by springs 7 housed within the inner units 5. As shown in Fig. 2 these springs 7 extend laterally through the openings 8 which are large enough to allow proper functioning of the springs while the slots 6 are narrower to inhibit side slip of the springs. The cross-bars 3 are rounded in crosssection and are flattened and cranked at the ends which are welded to the base of the boxes 2, the depth of the offset compensating for the height of the slots 6 and 8 above the base. The outer links may comprise more than two link elements 2, the intermediate link elements being provided in their side walls with apertures of the shape of the cross-bars 3 which pass therethrough. The cover 12 has depending flanges 13, Fig. 7, at opposite sides and fit flush within the box 10 to positively position the cover above the base of the box to be secured by bent-over lip portions 14 of the box.
