[Also in Group XXXVII] In a switch-actuating device, a straight bimetal strip is supported at one end A by a rod pivoted at O and which moves as the strip 'deforms (see broken lines) when a current is passed therethrough, the strip being supported near its other end B, e.g. between rollers or discs P, so that the middle part of the strip is displaced and the time taken for the displacement is determined by the position of a sliding electrical connection 3 which regulates the flow of current through the strip. The button E of a switch C controlling a separate circuit is operated.
