730,398. Aerials. SHARDLOW ELECTRIC WIRES, Ltd., and JONES, P. Aug. 14, 1953 (Ang. 22, 1952], No. 21129/52. Class 40 (7). A directional aerial system comprises two #/2 coplanar V elements P, P<SP>1</SP> and A, A<SP>1</SP> with their apices spaced apart a distance 0.01 to 0.1 #, both elements being energized or one only being energized and the other functioning as a director or reflector. As shown, the two rod sections of each V fit into sockets S, S<SP>1</SP> in junction members 2 and 3, each member being attached by a third socket B to a horizontal hollow boom 1 attached to a hollow mast 5 by a bracket 4. The junction member for an energized V element is made of insulating material or has insulating sleeves in sockets S<SP>1</SP> and S<SP>2</SP>. The feeder passes through the mast 5 and boom 1 and is attached to terminals at the adjacent ends of the V limbs, screw-on caps 6 being provided to facilitate access to the terminals. The angle between the limbs of each V may be within the range 60-120 degrees and is preferably 90 degrees.
