A disc brake for vehicles, of which the parts on each side of the disc 10 are similar, comprises circumferentially spaced opposed pairs of pads 26 which are engaged with the disc by pairs of fluid pressure piston and cylinder units 30, 31 through bell-crank members 32, the bores of the two cylinders on each side of the disc being inclined with respect to the plane of the disc, as shown in Fig. 3. A plurality of such brake units spaced around the disc and segmentalshaped pads in segmental bores in the housing may be used. Specification 709,305 is referred to.
