Abstract
728,842. Microphones. ROTHERMEL, Ltd. Aug. 28, 1953 [Aug. 11, 1952], No. 20213/52. Class 40 (4). A piezo-electric microphone comprises two conical diaphragms 1, 2 with a rectangular, twistertype crystal 11 located therebetween, two diagonally opposite corners of the crystal being directly attached to one diaphragm, while the remaining corners are attached by drive pins 9 to the other diaphragm. The diaphragms are of different size and are mounted by their flanges 3, 7 on opposite faces of an insulated annulus 8 formed of paper impregnated with synthetic resin. To avoid contact with the drive pins, diaphragm 2 is formed with localized bulges 12. In a modification, felt discs 14 are inserted to effect damping and to reduce the internal air space. Glue is employed to secure the various parts together.
