Abstract
728,517. Endless conveyers. SCHERER CORPORATION, R. P. Sept. 5, 1952 [March 15, 1952], No. 22361/52. Class 78 (1). [Also in Group XVI] In apparatus for marking cylindrical articles such as gelatine capsules 34 by rolling them beneath a marking element 56 (see Group XVI), the articles are rested on spaced rollers 26 on a conveyer 24, the rollers travelling along a track 30 which rotates them and the articles 34 thereon. As shown, the conveyer chain 24 passes round a driven sprocket 20 and an idler sprocket 22 and as the pairs of rollers 26, with tyres 28, come beneath a feed sheet 32, a capsule 34 is released by a cam 16 which through a spring-loaded lever 46 and link 48 operates an escapement comprising a rocking lever 40 connected to two blades 36, 38 alternately projected across the shoot. The capsules are guided during marking by a pair of inclined bars, one of which is shown at 78, mounted on " scissors " levers 80 pivoted at 82 and whose lower ends are connected by links 84 to a common central rod 88 movable in vertical slots 90 in a fixed bracket 92. The weight of the rod 88 biases the bars 78 towards one another to an extent limited by a stop 94 adjustable to suit the length of the capsules 34. The capsules are discharged from the conveyer 24 through a shoot 76.
