Abstract

723,441. Conveyers. SHEPPEE MOTOR & ENGINEERING CO., Ltd. Jan. 23, 1953 [Feb. 1, 1952], No. 2683/52. Class 78 (1). A transfer device, e.g. for hot bottles passing from one conveyer to another, comprises an endless duplex chain driven in timed relationchip with the first conveyer and carrying at least one retractable article-engaging finger, sams for positively retracting the finger, and other cams for bringing the finger into operative position. As shown, pivoted fingers 31 are carried on an endless duplex chain 25 driven by a sprocket 21 and tensioned by a spring-loaded sprocket 26. Hot bottles 40 are transferred from an endless belt or platform 41 to a further endless belt 43 by the fingers which are held in projected position during their operative stroke by a cam block 36 engaging a roller 33 on each finger. After transfer the fingers are positively retracted by a flange 38 acting on the rollers 33, flange 38 passing around sprocket 26 to hold the fingers in retracted position. Blocks 34 and 35 of asbestos or like heat-resistant material are secured respectively to the fingers and to the links of the chain.
