Abstract
728,388. Multiplex systems. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., and HEAD, N. E. Oct. 15, 1952 [Oct. 15, 1951], No. 24022/51. Class 40(4). In a frequency-division multiplex transmission system, supervisory signals in connection with one channel are transmitted by means of the carrier frequency proper to an adjacent channel. Oscillator 13, Fig. 2, which generates the carrier frequency 13.2 kc./s. for channel 3 has its output coupled to the transmission medium through a switch 15 which is controlled by the signalling currents of channel 2, and the upper side-band of the 9.5 k/cs. channel No. 2 carrier is received together with the 132 kc/s. signal by a band pass filter 21, Fig. 3. The speech and signalling currents are selected after demodulation by low pass filter 24 and band pass filter 26 respectively. Suitable levels for the prevention of cross-talk and false actuation of the signal receiver are also given.
