Abstract

728,331. Rotary pumps. BAKER PERKINS, Ltd. April 14, 1953 [Aug. 25, 1952], No. 10195/53, Class 110 (2). [Also in Group VI] A pump 6 is rotated bodily about a shaft 5 from an' extension of a stirring arm 4. The pumping is done by a compression vane 24 rotated round the annular pump chamber 23, the vane 24 compressing chocolate as it is blocked by abutment 28 whereby the chocolate escapes through an orifice 9 in, and so travelling round with, the vane. When the vane 24 reaches the abutment 28, the latter is automatically retracted in timed, relation to allow the vane 24 to sweep beyond and take a fresh charge of chocolate from the pump inlet 8. The abutment 28 may be adjusted to partially block the annulus 23'so that the'rate of pumping, may be adjusted as desired. The vane 24 is sloped at 27 to direct the chocolate downwards.
