Abstract

728,263. Electric incandescent lamps. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. March 1, 1954 [March 3, 1953], No. 5880/53. Class 39 (2). In order to minimize the effect of vibration and mechanical shock upon the filament of an electric incandescent lamp the leading-in wires 3 are extended by equal amounts beyond their connections with the ends of the filament 5 and terminate within a cylindrical or frusto-conical chamber 2 formed in the end wall of the bulb, with its axis in alignment with the axis of the bulb, the maximum width of the open end of the chamber being less than the greatest spacing between the extended portions of the leading-in wires so that the ends in the chamber are resiliently held apart from each other. The invention is applicable more particularly to lamps for motor cars and cycles, wherein it is desirable that the filament should retain a definite position relative to the cap 7.
