727,928. Rotary engines. T.M.M. (RESEARCH), Ltd. Dec. 18, 1953 [Dec. 19, 1952], No. 32236/52. Class 110 (2). [Also in Groups IX and XXIX] A reversing-vane type hydraulic motor for reciprocating a yarn package building member in a textile spinning or like machine (see Group IX) is provided with two control valves, the setting of one or both of which is altered by mechanism driven by the motor in phase with the movements of the builder member. A driving connection, not shown, transmits motion from the rotor shaft 22 of the motor to a shaft 16 that actuates the building member through a chain 14. Through a chain 19, the shaft 16 drives a pinion 20 that reciprocates a rack 21 pivotally carrying a rod 34 which bears against a roller 332 carried by a screw-adjustable valve 33 and also against a roller 322 on a spring-biased valve 32 so that reciprocations of the rack 21 displace the valve 32 and alter the speed of the motor. The fluid flow between the motor pressure inlet 26 and exhaust duct 27 is controlled by a valve 28 rotated by a crank 30 at the end of each traverse of the builder member by means not shown. In an alternative form, both valves 32, 33 are screwthreaded and rotated constantly by intermeshing pinions driven through a slipping clutch by the shaft 16.
