Abstract

1,096,859. Spinning and winding apparatus. BARMER MASCHINENFABRIK A.G. April 26, 1965 [April 28, 1964], No. 17492/65. Headings D1D and D1J. In a spinning or winding machine where the traverse is produced by a piston reciprocating in a hydraulic cylinder, the basic speed at which the piston moves being controlled by throttles of fixed, but adjustable throughput at the two ends of the cylinder, the traverse is periodically accelerated by an additional throttle or throttles the throughput of which is varied during the stroke. As shown, a valve 18, has three positions; in that shown it connects a line 17 supplied by a pump 15 from a reservoir directly to an exhaust line 25; in position 24 it connects the pressure line 17 to the right hand end of the cylinder 5 and the left hand end to the exhaust; in position 23 the connexions are reversed. The pressure connexion to the cylinder on each side is through line 29 or 34, a one-way valve 31 or 36 and a line 32 or 37. The exhaust connection is through a throttle 30 or 35 of fixed but adjustable throughput, and, in parallel with the throttles 30, 35, throttles shown as a unit 28 the throughput of which, and accordingly the speed of the traverse, varies during the stroke according to the rate at which it opens and shuts. The opening and closing is controlled by the amount of liquid moving through lines 43, 44 which are connected to exhaust or pressure according to the condition of a valve 40, the outlet of which is connected to the reservoir through a further throttle 45 of fixed but adjustable throughput. The condition of valves 18, 40 is controlled by adjustably positioned switches 8, 10, 9, 11 engaged by a feeler 7 on the piston rod, the switches being moved by the rotation of threaded rods 12, 13 controlled by programme means 14. The member 45 may be a metering- member, a slide valve or a pump. The construction of the additional throttle 28 is described, Fig. 3, not shown.
