727,902. Sound receiving and transmitting devices. ROTHERMEL, Ltd. March 24, 1953 [March 24, 1952], No. 7569/52. Class 40 (4). [Also in Group XL (b)] A piezo-electric crystal mounting in a microphone, earphone or loudspeaker comprises an arcuate spring clip 7 which supports three corners of a rectangular twister-type crystal 2. As shown in Figs. 1 and 2, the clip has integral fixing lugs 8 and is sprung into position on the crystal so that the corners are held by slots 6. In an application to microphones, Fig. 3, the clip is mounted on edge in a casing 1 by passing the lugs through openings and then clinching, and the free crystal corner is connected to the centre of a dished diaphragm 4. The fixing lugs may alternatively be omitted, the clip being then secured on edge by soldering, welding or adhesive. Adhesive may also be employed to secure the crystal corners to the clip, the slots 6 being omitted.
