Abstract

727,661. Collapsible hoods. BISHOP, W. H., and PERKS, J. Oct. 29, 1952 [Nov. 28, 1951], No. 27878/51. Class 108 (1). A collapsible hood comprises side arms 13 connected to cranked members 14 which move laterally away from or towards one another during opening or closing movement of the hood, so that when the hood is open the arms are flush with the windows 12. The members 14 are rigidly secured to nuts 15 provided with pins 17 adapted to move in helical grooves 18 in cam members 16, the nuts and cams being fixed to links 19 pivotable about pins 20 in channel members 21 mounted on the body. When the hood is to be collapsed, the members 13 and 14 are rotated firstly about the common axis of the cams 16 causing the nuts 15 to move inwardly of the body, and then when the dotted line position, Fig. 1, is reached the members 13 and 14 and the links 19 are rotated about pins 20 to carry the hood to its collapsed position.
