726,717. Screw fans. PETERSIME, I. M., and PETERSIME INCUBATOR CO. April 17, 1953 [Jan. 6, 1953], No. 10638/53. Class 110 (1). A fan for producing a pulsating air stream comprises radially disposed blades arranged circumferentially around a rotor, each blade having a pressure producing surface angularly disposed with respect to that of an adjacent blade. The fan shown is used for ventilating an incubator and comprises a pulley 14 rotatably mounted on a wall 40 of a compartment of the incubator and driven through a belt 32 and a pulley 31 from a motor mounted outside the incubator. Blades 22, 23, 24, 25 are supported by brackets 18, 19 attached to the arms 16 of the pulley 14. Blades 22, 24 are inclined, oppositely to blades 23, 25 so as to impel the air in the opposite direction. The blades are of sheet metal, with flanges 26, 27 for stiffness. The number of blades and their shape may differ from that shown. The introduction and withdrawal of air may be effected by the pulsating fan or by separate means.
