[Also in Group XXXVI] A gate for an electric fence comprises an insulating tubular handle 1 housing a spring 10 confined between metal end caps 11 abutting against upturned ends 13, 12 of two relativelyslidable conductors 5, 6, respectively. Conductor 6 has two prongs and a loop 9 which is attached to one end of the fence, while the other conductor has a hook-shaped end 8 which detachably engages a loop at the other end. A portion 14 of the hook 8 engages in a slot 15 in the end 13 of the handle 1 to prevent the conductor 5 from turning.
