Abstract

A storage-stable aqueous pteroyl solution especially for parenteral injection comprises one or more pteroyl compounds and 0.01-0.5 per cent alkali metal salt of ethylene diamine tetraacetic acid, the pH of the solution being 7-10. Mono-, di-, tri- and tetra-sodium, potassium or lithium salts may be used, and may be formed by neutralization of the acid in the solution. The term "pteroyl compounds" means folic acid and folic acid-containing materials such as liver extracts and their equivalents, e.g. pteroylglutamyl-glutamyl glutamate, 4-amino-10-methylpteroylglutamic acid, 4-aminopteroyl-glutamic acid, 4-aminopteroylaspartic acid, 9-methylpteroylglutamic acid, 4-amino-9,10-dimethylglutamic acid, N5 - formyltetrahydropteroylglutamic acid, 2,4-dihydroxy-pteroylglutamic acid, 2 methylaminopteroylglutamic acid, 2 - dimethylaminopteroylglutamic acid, 4 - methylaminopteroylglutamic acid, 4 - dimethylaminopteroylglutamic acid. An example discloses the use also of crystalline Vitamin B12 in the preparation of a solution.ALSO:A storage-stable aqueous pteroyl solution especially for parenteral injection comprises one or more pteroyl compounds and 0.01-0.5 per cent alkali metal salt of ethylene diamine tetraacetic acid, the pH of the solution being 7-10.
