In a compressed air braking system for railway vehicles comprising a compressor 2, main reservoir 6, pressure reducing feed valve 10, driver's valve 16, equalizing piston 34 and an equalizing reservoir 40, a duplex air gauge 19 is provided in which one Bourdon tube, which operates a balanced calibrated hand sector 21, is connected by pipes 26 and 22 to a pipe. 14 between the control valve 16 and the feed valve 10, and a second Bourdon tube, which operates an indicator pointer 23, is connected by pipes 39 and 38 to the equalizing reservoir 40. The relative positions of the sector and indicator pointer thus provide the locomotive driver with information as to the condition of the system.
