Abstract

724,103. Casting-machines. PLASTIC PRODUCTS, Ltd., and WENHAM, D. L. May 29, 1952 [Jan. 2, 1952], No. 191/52. Class 83 (1). [Also in Group V] If mould parts G, H do not close properly due to foreign matter &c., an arm D fails to close a switch S1 in parallel with a switch S2 in the electric control circuit of the casting machine. The switch S2 is opened by a cam E1 as the moulds move to the right against a spring B1 under the mould-closing pressure of hydraulic cylinder I. The machine is therefore stopped, if foreign matter is present between the mould parts, as both switches S1, S2 are opened before the full moulding pressure is attained. If the mould plate B is fixed, the switch S2 may be replaced by a switch S3 operated by the hydraulic pressure acting on the mould plate A at a predetermined pressure. Control switches may be provided at each corner of the mould plate. The switches S1, S2 may be replaced by valves in the hydraulic circuit of the machine. Indicator lights or alarms may be provided.
