[Also in Group XXIII] A system for ensuring the uniform distribution of de-icing liquid over the leading edge of an aircraft wing comprises a rigid outer porous sheet 10 of bronze secured to the wing structure 11 by screws 12 and located in intimate contact with a backing -sheet 13 of flexible micro-porous sheet material spaced along its edges from the sheet 10 by spacers 14. A sheet 15 of liquid impervious material is arranged behind the sheet 13 to leave a space 16 for the flow of liquid and is backed by a rigid metal sheet 17, the whole being secured together by screws and nuts 18, 19, additional screws 22 being provided if necessary. Liquid is supplied to the space 16 through a connector 20. An alternative embodiment is described in which the whole element is in the form of a shoe for attachment to the leading edge plating of a wing, and in which the sheet 13 may be backed by a layer of liquid impervious material. The system may be used for supplying gases. Specification 565,022, [Group IV], is referred to.
