1,102,958. Deicing aircraft. T.K.S. (AIRCRAFT DE-ICING) Ltd. 3 Dec., 1964 [3 Dec., 1963], No. 47733/63. Heading B7W. A deicing element for attachment to an aerofoil comprises an outer sheet 1 of rigid porous material backed by a sheet 4 of flexible microporous material in intimate contact therewith and formed with joggled ends to accommodate a spacer 3 and to form with a fluid-impervious backing sheet 5 a cavity into which deicing fluid is pumped. The sheet 5 overlaps the outer skin 2 of the aerofoil and is secured thereto by spacers 7 and attachments 6 in such manner that sheet 1 abuts and forms a smooth leading edge continuation of the outer skin 2.
