Abstract

1,094,372. Preventing formation of ice on aircraft. T.K.S. (AIRCRAFT DE-ICING) Ltd. April 9, 1965 [April 10, 1964], No. 14966/64. Heading B7W. In a system for ensuring the uniform distribution of de-icing liquid over the leading edge of an aircraft aerofoil, wherein an outer sheet 1 of rigid porous material is backed by an inner sheet 3 of flexible micro-porous material, in turn backed in spaced relationship by a further sheet 4 of impervious material substantially as described in Specification 724,019, the said spaced relationship is maintained by forming lands or projections on the impervious sheet at the points of attachment 6, and the flexible micro-porous sheet 3 is compressed to form a liquid seal between the outer porous sheet 1 and the backplate 4 at the places of attachment 7 to the aerofoil 2.
