Abstract
723,462. Turbine rotors. METROPOLITANVICKERS ELECTRICAL CO., Ltd. July 24, 1953 [July 28, 1952], No. 19052/52. Class 110(3). A turbine rotor comprises two or more discs 1, 2 which abut and are held together by a central axial bolt 3, a thermally-conductive ring 5 being disposed at least between one pair of abutting faces and being adapted to engage resiliently the two abutting discs and the bolt passing therethrough. The bolt is thus held centrally within the bore through the discs and a heat-conducting path is provided between the rotor discs and the bolt. The ring is preferably of steel and may be of U-section as in Fig. 2, or of V-section, the ring being accommodated in a groove 4 in the disc 1. The ring is located by means of equi-angularlyspaced keys 6 engaged in radially-disposed keyways formed in the ring and disc 1. The discs may be held together by other means such as rivets 8 in addition to the bolt 3.
