Abstract

722,921. Band clips. CHENEY & SON, Ltd., C. W., and CHENEY, C. W. Feb. 19, 1953 [March 15, 1952], No. 6765/52. Class 44. [Also in Group XXIII] A hand tool for use in turning the screw or worm of a worm drive band clip comprises a handle 4, having at one end a coaxial cylindrical socket 6, a tooth 7 solid with and axially arranged in the socket, a circumferential groove 9 in the bore of the socket and adjoining the mouth thereof, a resilient, split band 8 engaging the groove, and having its bore projecting into the bore of the socket and the plane of the band being located in an ahead position relative to the tip of the tooth, the band being capable of snap engagement with an annular groove in the head of the screw when the socket is pushed axially over the head with the tooth engaging the groove whereby the tool and screw are joined together as a unit structure. As shown, the handle may be provided with finger pieces 5 or an extension Fig. 5, (not shown) enabling the tool to be used in the manner of a screw driver.
