Abstract

722,645. Electromechanical filters. COLLINS RADIO CO. Dec. 29, 1952 [April 21, 1952], No. 32873/52. Class 40 (8). An electromechanical filter comprises a series of vibrating discs 32, 33, 34 spaced by coupling wires 36 connected to the edges of the discs, the discs being driven by magneto-strictive means. The end discs 33, 34, which do not form part of the vibrating system, are welded to hollow brass cylinders 21, 22 containers respective the magneto-strictive input and output means. The driving rods 39, 41 of the input and output are connected respectively to the first and last discs 32 of the vibrating system. It is stated that the resonant frequency of the filter is determined by the thickness and diameter of the discs 32. The cylinders 21, 22 are supported by clamps 16, 17 which also support polarizing magnets 29, 31. Specification 722,664 is referred to.
