The apparatus of Specification 706,684, in which the cutting of tooth structures is performed by an abrasive laden stream of gas is provided with duplicated powder distributing means and a control for selecting either at will In the equipment described, compressed gas from a cylinder 12 passes through a pressure reducing valve 16 but thereafter, by closure of a valve 20, may be made tc pass through a second reducing valve 19 when lower pressures are desired. It then passes tc branched conduits 13a, 13b, 13c, normally closed by pinch valves 27, 271 and 40, but these may be opened selectively by a manually operated control cam 43<1>. A main control switch 21a is arranged tc close when there is adequate supply pressure and passes current through a foot-actuated switch 50 to the appropriate vibrating magnet 30, 30<1>, selecting switches 29, 29<1> being automatically closed by mechanism 27, 27<1>. The vibration of the canister 22, 23 by the appropriate magnet distributes powder in the gas stream and this passes through the electrically actuated valve 44 to the hand piece. Opening valve 40 by the control knob 43 allows a stream of gas to pass directly to the handpiece in order to clear it of any powder previously used.
