Abstract

721,490. Coil springs. DUVERDIER, J. L. P. June 18, 1953 [July 4, 1952], No. 16884/52. Class 108 (3). A device for securing the end of a helical spring 6, comprises a base 1 to which are fixed a pair of concentric socket members 2, 3 defining an annular gap, the opposed faces of which are cylindrical and unthreaded, and in which is provided a separate helical ramp 5 having the same pitch as the convolutions of the spring 6. The ramp 5 may be held in position by being jammed between the members 2, 3, or it may be welded in position. The end 6a of the spring is jammed between the opposed faces of the ramp 5 and the base 1. The spring may be released by application of a suitable tool through a hole 7. A threaded portion 8 enables the spring end to be adjusted axially to vary the spring load.
