Abstract

720,908. Hand-contact appliances. KOHNSTAM, Ltd., J. April 10, 1953, No. 9778/53. Class 38 (1). A connector for a measuring instrument lead comprises a pair of wires 8 slidable in a flexible sheath 1 encased in insulating material, the wires, at one end, being bent apart at 12 and then together at 13 to form a pair of jaws, the parts 12 co-operating with a bell-mouth 7 of the sheath. The other ends of the wires are attached to a hub 11 slidable within a hub 4 attached to the sheath, the hubs being surrounded by a flexible insulating handle 2 and pressed apart by a spring 14 so that the wires 8 are drawn into the sheath, the part 7 camming the jaws together. By compressing the handle longitudinally the wires 8 are moved out of the sheath and due to their flexibility the jaws 13 open so that they may embrace a terminal 17. On releasing the handle the jaws are closed to grip the terminal between them and the sheath. In a modification the jaws may be part of a U-shaped member to the base of which a single wire is attached, or a single wire with a hooked end may replace wires 8.
