Abstract
720,647. Firebacks. BAXENDALE, J., and BAXENDALE, R. Sept. 25, 1953 [Oct. 28, 1952]. No. 27041/52. Class 126. In a domestic firegrate comprising two side cheeks and two back bricks fixed one above the other, the upper back brick resting on the top of the lower back brick and on inclined edges of the side cheeks the rear edges of the side chcks key into vertical grooves or corrugations in the bottom back brick. The firegrate shown (Fig. 2) comprises side cheeks a, b, and back bricks c, d, the upper brick d resting on the lower one c and on the inclined edges of a and b. The brick c has a corrugated front surface and the rear ends of the cheeks a, b are shaped to fit in the corrugations (Fig. 4). In a modification (Fig. 6) the corrugations resemble serrations of opposite hand at opposite sides of the centre of the lower back brick c. The engaging ends of a, b, are shaped accordingly.
