Abstract

719,939. Separating solid materials. DEISTER CONCENTRATOR CO. Oct. 9, 1951, No. 23485/51. Class 117 A separator has a rectilinearly reciprocating imperforate deck tilted to provide a high side and a 'low side, the high side forming an acute angle with the direction of reciprocation and a substantial part of the high side being arranged to spill material over the edge. As shown in Figs. 1 and 2 a deck 31 of a concenrtrator table is reciprocated by a mechanism 3 and has riffles 32 generally parallel to the direction of reciprocation. The deck is mounted on a sub-frame 12 which may be tilted about an axis parallel to the direction of reciprocation by adjustment of wedges 28 so that the side which is nearer material feed box 33 and which is inclined to the direction of reciprocation by adjustment of opposite side. Sub. frame 12 is mounted on a base frame 4 which may also be tilted by shims under bolts 9 securing it to piers 6 so that the end nearer mechanism 3 is lower than the opposite end. Water from a launder box 34 carries light particles towards the low side while heavy particles travel towards the high end. To avoid heavy particles having to travel along the length of the high side before delivery, adjustable openings 37, 38, 39 are provided for delivery along the high side. interference from the launder water being prevented by baffles Fig. 5 (not shown). Alternative positions for the feed box, deck shapes, and extents of the riffles are discussed, Figs. 6-9 (not shown). In Fig. 11 feed box 33 and launder box 34 are not carried by deck 31 but are adjustably mounted on a framework 50 attached to sub frame 12 so that load on the deck is reduced.
