Class 41 An electrode comprises a plate i of plane or other suitable form provided with uniformly or non-uniformly distributed holes or slots 2 and as an auxiliary electrode a wire net 3 which is mechanically and electrically connected to the plate, e.g. by spot welding, at a plurality of areas 4 uniformly or non-uniformly distributed in such manner that all or a majority of the wires are connected to the plate at at least one area. The areas of connection may be in the form of dots, arranged e.g. diagonally to the mesh, or stripes. The plate may be formed e.g. by the electrolytic deposition or by spraying with metal before application of the wire net and the plate with the net thereon similarly treated. Such forming enhances the electrolytic effectiveness of the surface of the metal.
