Abstract

719,809. Attaching handles &c. to pottery articles. COPELAND & SONS, Ltd., W. T., and WOOLLAM, A. June 16, 1953 [March 22, 1952], No. 7451/52. Class 87 (1) A machine for attaching handles &c. to cups &c. comprises a chuck 31 to support a cup, and a handle support 23 slidable to and from the chuck. The support 23 is operated by a hand lever 14 co-operating with slots 16 in a bracket 13 on which it is mounted, the lever also engaging a slot 17 in a counterweighted member 18 pivoted on the bracket and carrying a pad 20 which is brought down on to the handle before the latter is moved towards the cup. The chuck 31 is moved through 90 degrees after the cup has been placed thereon to correctly orientate the cup to receive its handle and is held in this position against the action of a weight 34 or spring by a lever 37 co-operating with a notch 40 in a cam 36 carried by the chuck. The lever 37 is tripped by a dependent arm 47 (not shown) on the hand lever 14.
