Abstract

719,615. Hair waving appliances. SOC ANON. SARMIO. Oct. 19, 1949, No. 26907/49. Class 131 Apparatus for use in a hair waving process comprises a sleeve of rubber or like supple and elastic material slit from one end to the other. The sleeve, which is heated to less than 100‹C and applied to a strand of hair wound on a mandrel and impregnated with a waving solution, consists of a rubber tube 1 slotted at 2. As shown in Figs. 2 and 3, an outer tube 3 is bonded to an inner tube 1a, flexible lips 2b facilitating application of the compound tube to the hair and a heat accumulator 4 is permanently located between the tubes or is introduced after being heated. In further modifications the heat accumulators are in threaded or granular form embedded in the tube during manufacture, the tube is other than circular in section the cylindrical interior space is eccentric to the outer surface of the tube which has projections resting against the scalp or protecting pad and the tube is bendable only at the portion opposite the slot to form a hinge.
