CORN AND BUNION PLASTER.
To all 'IIIIOIII it may concern:
Patented Aug. a, mun.
Be it known that I. Pi-znm' S. BAH-IR, a l confines the heat and causes the medicaci'tizen of the United States, residing at (hi- 5 cago, in the county of (ook and State of lllinois, have invented new and useful improvements in Corn and Bunion Masters, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to corn and bunion plasters prepared for application b the user and its object is to provide for securing the plaster in place without producing a bulky and uncomfortable bandage beneath and atthe sides of the toe.
Another object of this invention is to pro vide a double covering for the medicament whereby to confine the heat from the toe and cause the medicament to act quickly and with full eil'ect. I
In the accompanying drawings Figures 1 and '2 show the plaster applied to a corn. Fig. 3 shows the binding strip. Fig. 4 is a plan view of the plaster. Fig. I) is a longitudinal sectional view of the plaster. Fig. ti is a sectional view on the line 6-43 of Fig. 4. Fig. 7
Fig. 8 i a sectional view on the line SS of Fig. 7 Fig. 9 is a )crspective view of the plaster as it ap )ears when applied.
.ilclcrring to the dmwings 10 is the binding st-ri made of fabric provided on one side with a coating 11 of adhesive material. This strip has enlarged ends 12 and 13 and a narrow connecting not H (Fig. 4). A shield having a central opening 16 and made of felt or other suit-able material is allixed to one of the enlarged ends of the binding strip by the adhesive on the strip. Thisshield is also )refcrably provided with a coating 17 of adiesive material on its outer face. so that it will stick to the the as applied. A suitable medicament 18 is located on the binding strip within the opening in the shield.
In applying my improved )laster the shield is arranged on the toe wit 1 the medicament directly upon or above the corn, the binding strip is wrapped around the toe, and the. coated side of the free end 13 is allixed t0 the outer uncoaied side of the-end 12 Thus the shield and medicament. are covered by both ends of ment to act quickly and thoroughly.
The end 12 of the strip-is preferably of the same size as the shield to completely,or approximately cover it, and the end 13 is somewhat longer than the shield to adapt the plaster for toes of dillerent sizes and so that the end 13 will cover the shield also. The connecting part 14 of the binding strip will lie between the adjacent toes and beneath the toe havim the corn and it is made narrow so that it willnot unnecessarily bind the toe and prevent the free moveln .t thereof in l the strip, forming a double covering which.
and rub and otherwise prove uncomfortable and injurious to the user. The binding strip may be made so that the connecting art thereof will not. stick to the under side 0 the toe, and this can be accomplished by providing the strip with win s H (Fig. 3) which are coated with the ad iesive and are folded over and upon the 'strip as shown in Figs. 4, 6; or a piece of fabric 20 with a non-adhesive outer face may be laid on the adhesive coated connecting part of the strip as shown in Figs. 7, 3.
The binding strip will securely hold the shield in its fixed position on the toe without danger of becoming disnrrnnged in walking.
shie d and thereby better secure it in place, and narrow where it contacts with the toe to reduce to a minimum the binding effect on the toe and the im-onvenience to 1 re user.
What I claim and desire. to secure by Letters Patent is:
l. A corn or bunion plaster comprising a binding strip having adhesive material on one side thereof throughout its length, said strip having enlarged ends and a narrow part connecting the ends, a shield nllixed to the adhesive side of said strip at one end thereof and provided with an o )ening, the other cnlorgcd end of said strip heing longer than the enlarged end which carries the shield, and a medicament located on the strip within the opening in the shield. u
2. A com or bunion plaster, eon prismg a vide a non-adhesive section thereon between the ends of the strip.
