Abstract

699,253. Surgical draining devices. GANDELL, W. R. K. Dec. 28, 1951 [Dec. 29, 1950], No. 31637/50. Class 81 (ii). A surgical draining device, for insertion into a wound, comprising a thinwalled tube of rubber oi like flexible material reinforced over that portion oi its length around which the wound contracts, is provided with a collar serving as an anchoring member to the body by means of adhesive sheet material. A drainage tube 1 is reinforced internally by a helical spring 2 or externally by a helical spring covered by a flexible sheath (not shown). A metal collar 3 secured to the tube 1 by screws 4 is provided with radial deformable metal arms 6 by means of which the tube 1 is secured to the body 5 by adhesive sheet material. In an alternative construction (not shown) a flexible non-detachable collar e.g. of rubber is secured to the body by adhesive sheet material placed over it or provided with adhesive on both sides and placed between the collar and the body.
