Abstract

718,762. Fuel injectors. INJECTION MAINTENANCE, Ltd., and CARR, R. Nov. 20, 1953 [Nov. 21, 1952], No. 29433/52. Class 7(3) A spring spindle 9 transmitting the thrust from the valve loading spring to a needle valve in a fuel injector is made of a material whose resilience is less than that of mild steel, the spindle having hardened steel ends 10, 11. As shown the spindle is formed by a tube 9 of aluminium or an aluminium alloy such as that known by the Registered Trade Mark " Duralumin," the ends being closed by the hardened steel plugs 10, 11. The plug 10 is formed with a flange 8 on which the valve spring seats and the plug 11 with a recess engaging the upper end of the needle valve. The part 9 of the spindle may alternatively be formed of a moulded or extruded plastic material.
