Abstract
<PICT:0718426/III/1> <PICT:0718426/III/2> In a means for spray painting textile bobbins and the like, the bobbins are placed on a travelling conveyer, by which they are fed through a spraying zone and subsequently through a drying zone, and, whilst passing through the spraying zone, being rotated by contact with a driving belt passing round a displaceable pulley, so as to cause their whole circumferential surface to pass before a spraying device, such contact also causing diplacement of the pulley and in consequence opening a control valve for the spraying device, the return movement of the pulley allowing the control valve to close. A flat-link chain 1 passes round three sprockets 4, 5, and 6 and is driven by sprocket 4, Fig. 1. Alternate links of the chain 1 carry upstanding pins 3 over which bobbins are placed as the pins move up the inclined portion C. As the bobbins move along the horizontal portion A they pass a spray device 9 and under a fume extractor 8, and then on to an infra-red drying unit 10. At the end of the horizontal run the bobbins fall off pins 3 into a receptacle. At the spraying zone 9 are two pulleys 13 and 14 on spindles 11 and 16, Fig. 6, spindle 11 being carried in the outer end of a radius arm 12 pivoted about spindle 16. An endless belt 15 encircles the two pulleys 13 and 14 and is driven by pulley 14. Normally the belt 15 is inclined to the conveyer chain 1 and has one portion lying in the path of the bobbins, spring means (not shown) holding the arm 12 in this position, and allowing these parts to be displaced by contact with an advancing bobbin, and causing their return to the normal position after each bobbin has passed. A control valve 19 in an air-supply to the spray is inoperative when the belt 15 is over-lying the conveyer, but the air-valve 19 is opened when arm 12 is displaced by a passing bobbin to cause the spray to come into action. As the bobbins contact the moving belt 15 they are rotated about their fins 15 while being sprayed.
