Abstract
718,352. Mine roof supporting bars. PROGRES CHARBONNIER PROCHAR SOC. COOPERATIVE. Nov. 27, 1952 [Dec. 28, 1951], No. 30114/52. Class 20 (2) Mine roof bars are connected end to end by means of male and female jaws, each male jaw having lateral reinforcement lugs providing rounded bearing surfaces 5, Fig. 1, or 8, Fig. 5, adapted to engage corresponding surfaces 8, Fig. 1, or 5, Fig. 5, provided on the inner flanks of the female jaw whilst the central part of the male jaw terminates in an inclined surface 9 for engagement by a wedge key 10 inserted through openings 11 in the female jaw. The key 10 and openings 11 have rounded upper surfaces 12 to ensure contact in any angular position of the bars.
