Class 20(2) In a pivoted joint between caps supporting mine roofs, a cap 2 having a pivot pin 4 on which another cap 1 is mounted from one side of the joint is locked by a .wedge 7 which engages one of two grooves on each side of a rib 5 on the pivot pin, the two grooves being provided in order that a cap may be used when inverted. The wedge 7 is mounted in a ball socket 8. A bolt 10 is mounted in a guide 11 in the free end of the pin 4 'and is forced outwards by the wedge 7 so that it prevents accidental release of the pin 4.
