In a mine roof support comprising a prop 14 resiliently mounted in a socket 10, 11, 12 by a rubber bushing 15 adapted to accommodate misalignment, the bushing is protected by a cap 16, 17 and bears on shoulders 19, 20, 21, as shown. The cap may consist of two parts 16, 17 welded together at 17a or formed as an integral construction.
