Abstract

717,200. Spinning ring assembly. ALBRECHT, G. F. May 16, 1952, No. 12435/52. Class 120(2) [Also in Group XXXIV] A textile spinning ring assembly of the kind comprising two co-axial annuli, one annulus 2 constituting a support for the other, the latter annulus 1 comprising a portion shaped to form traveller guiding surfaces and having a radial, outwardly extending, rigid flange 3 provided with a smooth horizontal under surface 7, the supporting annulus 2 having a horizontal annular surface 8 upon which said flange rests when the annuli are assembled, the supporting annulus 2 having an annular channel 11 for the reception of lubricant. is characterized in that said channel is narrow as compared with the radial width of the flange supporting surface and in having an oil conducting wick 30 which fills the annular channel, the initial transverse dimensions of the wick being such that when the parts are assembled the wick is held under lateral compression and contacts the underside of the flange, and in that means are provided for supplying oil to the wick. In the preferred embodiment shown the ends of the wick 30 are immersed in lubricant in a reservoir 18 provided with a cover 28. The guiding annulus 1 is of an oil-absorbent material and. the supporting annulus of non- absorbent material. The wick is preferably made of glass fibres which are smooth and non-absorbent of oil.
